Having been a GP in Sunderland for 24 years I have a good understanding of the issues and challenges we face. Having past LMC experience I was your elected Clinical Chair for Sunderland CCG for 10 years. I was honoured by King Charles for services to our NHS in Sunderland in 2023 (BEM).
Latterly it has been my privilege to work as your current LMC Secretary alongside LMC members / officers robustly representing your needs at all levels in our NHS. Ensuring all GP roles are represented equally. These are challenged times with our Collective action in Sunderland delivering significant impact and ensuring our Hospitals, Local Authority and ICB take you seriously. These challenges inevitably will continue as details of our much-promised NHSE new contract emerge – which no doubt will come with “strings” attached.
Having always been prepared to challenge wrongs and speak up for GPs it is equally important to understand balance and need for joint working. General Practice has never worked in a vacuum or echo chamber but as an LMC member I will always have your back and robustly defend what we do as professionals in our role delivering and serving for our patients.
